How to Set Up IPTV on a Fire TV Stick in Canada

Whether you're catching hockey in Toronto or a CFL game in Calgary, a Fire TV Stick is the quickest way to get IPTV onto your TV. Here is the full setup, from unboxing to first channel, in about ten minutes.

What you need

• A Fire TV Stick (Lite, 4K or 4K Max) or Fire TV Cube, connected to your TV and Wi-Fi
• Your Xtream Codes (server URL, username, password) or M3U URL, sent to you when you order or start a free trial
• About ten minutes

Step 1: Install Downloader

From the Fire TV home screen, open Find → Search, type “Downloader” and install the app. It lets you install apps that aren't listed for your model.

Step 2: Allow installs from Downloader

Go to Settings → My Fire TV → Developer options and switch on Install unknown apps for Downloader. On newer software you may instead be asked to allow it the first time you open Downloader.

Step 3: Install an IPTV player

Search the Amazon Appstore for TiviMate or IPTV Smarters Pro. If your model doesn't list the app, open Downloader and enter the download link shown on the app developer's official website.

Step 4: Add your subscription

Open the player, choose Xtream Codes (or M3U URL), enter the details we sent you and wait while the channel list and TV guide load. That's it. Pick a channel and start watching.

Tips for smooth streaming

• Aim for about 10–15 Mbps for HD and 25 Mbps or more for 4K.
• A stable connection beats a fast one: use an Ethernet adapter or 5 GHz Wi-Fi close to the router.
• If a channel stutters, restart the router, clear the app's cache and try again.

A note about player apps

Some third-party players offer a free trial and then charge their own licence fee, paid to the app developer rather than to us. Free options such as IPTV Smarters Pro work with your subscription too.
