Search "best IPTV app" and you get lists of players: TiviMate, IPTV Smarters Pro, IBO Player, VLC and a dozen others. They all do the same basic job. You give them a playlist link or an Xtream Codes login from your provider, and they show the channels. The short answer
If your provider sends you an M3U link or Xtream Codes, TiviMate (Android TV, Fire TV) and IPTV Smarters Pro (most devices) are the usual picks, and Samsung or LG owners end up with activation-based players such as IBO Player. If you're an IPTViva customer, you don't need any of them: everything plays in the IPTViva app, which you sign in to with your own email and password on every screen. No playlist, no MAC address, no activation fee.
What an IPTV player actually is
An IPTV player is an empty app. It has no channels of its own. It reads a list of streams that your provider gives you and turns it into a channel guide you can browse with a remote. That's why the same player can feel great with one provider and awful with another: the player only shows what's in the playlist.
It also means two companies are involved in what you watch: the provider who sells the channels and the developer who makes the player. Each has its own support, its own rules and, often, its own fee.

Each of these is a reasonable app for what it was built for. The problem isn't the apps. It's the model around them.
Where third-party players fall short
You have to set them up. Find the app for your device, install it (sometimes by sideloading), choose between "Xtream Codes" and "M3U", type a server address, username and password without a typo, and wait for the list to load. Then do it again on every TV, phone and box.
Activation by MAC address. Players like IBO Player identify your TV by its MAC address and a device key. You send both to the seller, who attaches your playlist on the player's website. Your device number ends up in chats and on a third-party portal. We explain why that matters in IPTV without a MAC address.
Extra fees. Several players charge their own licence or activation fee, per device, on top of your subscription, paid to a developer you've never dealt with.
Your login is a link. A playlist link or Xtream login can be copied, forwarded and reused. When it leaks, someone else uses your connections and you get "already in use".
Nobody owns the problem. When a channel freezes, the provider points at the player and the player points at the provider.
They don't know what's on. A player shows channel names. It doesn't know that tonight's match is on channel 412, or that the usual channel is down and another one has it.

Can I use TiviMate or IPTV Smarters with IPTViva?
No. IPTViva no longer sends M3U links or Xtream Codes, so there is nothing to load into a third-party player. Everything plays in the IPTViva app.
